The European Union’s Deforestation Regulation, known as EUDR, may not be exclusive to the natural rubber industry, but it will bring sweeping changes to it. The European Commission sees the law as a necessary step to reduce global deforestation. Many industry stakeholders, however, have been divided on the regulation—supporting its intent to minimize the natural rubber supply chain’s carbon footprint, but criticizing the logistics surrounding implementation and how it may impact vulnerable contributors along the supply chain.
